There’s no doubt that one of the biggest stories of the last 12 months has been Amazon’s HQ2, or the future location of Amazon’s next headquarters.
The company has been considering locations all across Texas including major cities like Dallas and Austin but as of November 6th, 2018 it’s becoming more likely by the day that Amazon is going to choose an East Coast location for their HQ2 instead of a location somewhere in Texas or elsewhere in the United States.
Splitting HQ2 Between Two Cities?
Not only has retail behemoth Amazon decided it’s too big for Seattle, but now it may need a third city to accommodate its future growth.
And that could end up leaving Dallas out of the mix as Amazon looks to reshape areas in need of a boost with its prized $5 billion investment over the next decade.
The New York Times reported Monday night that Amazon is nearing deals to split 50,000 workers between two locations — the Long Island neighborhood of Queens and the Crystal City area of Arlington, Va., outside Washington, D.C. The Times cited people familiar with the decision-making process that’s been percolating for 14 months.
Earlier Monday, The Wall Street Journal, quoting an unnamed source, reported that Amazon will split its second headquarters between two cities, with 25,000 jobs added in each. A decision could come as soon as this week, according to the Journal.
