How to Sell Your Home During A Cooling Real Estate Market

By Heath Olinger

DALLAS, TX. – One thing most agents, brokers, and people who work in the real estate market agree on right now is that the market is cooling.

The August 2018 real estate market is different than the January 2018 market but the good news is that in spite of the cooling it’s still possible for you to sell your home if you follow these tips.

Tip #1 – You Have to Get Your Home Ready for Showing

Yes, it’s true, you have to take the time to get your home ready for showing and can’t just sell it “as is” because a home that’s been prepared for the listing will often sell faster and for more money

To get your home ready for showing you should do the following:

  • Get your home professionally cleaned.
  • Declutter your home.
  • Paint your home (inside and out).
  • Clean up the landscaping if it’s needed.

Tip #2 – Stage Your Home

You may be thinking about moving out of your home and into another house before listing it but studies have shown that a staged home often sells faster and for more money than a home that’s not been staged.

Staging is import because it shows buyers how to best use the space that your home offers them and it won’t leave them guessing about how the rooms in your home will function with furniture.

Tip #3 – Price Your Home Correctly

Although your neighbor may have sold their home for $500K back in January 2018, you shouldn’t think that you’re going to be able to sell your home for more money because it’s a different market now.

Take the time to meet with a Dallas Texas Realtor® and have comparable pulled just so you know what your home is really worth right now and you don’t make the mistake of overpricing your house.
